Hardcover. Condición: Very Good-. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good-. FIRST EDITION in brown cloth with illustrated dust jacket, illustrated endpapers, profusely illus., photos, maps, index, 288pp. O'Keefe #243. Very Good- in Very Good- dust jacket. Dee Brown was interested in the Custers, for he mentions them in most of his works, and displays a strong dislike for General Custer. In a chapter entitled "Libbie and Autie," the author attempts to have his readers believe Custer gained the rank of general during the Civl War through arrogance and fashion, rather than through the enormous military success he achieved. Brown write (in great error) "Between the Battle of Bull Run and Lee's surrender at Appomattox, Custer learned that it was not high marks but showmanship that won military promotions, and he was a born actor.".
