Soft cover. Condición: Good. Fitzgerald, F. Scott. The Basil and Josephine stories / edited with an introduction by Jackson R. Bryer and John Kuehl. New York: Scribners, 1973. Paperback, Good. Multiple creases to front cover, small amount of shelfwear damage to bottom of spine. Top edge of text block slightly duststained. Contents clean and bright. The Basil and Josephine Stories is a collection of two separate short stories collections (one about Basil Duke Lee, the other about Josephine Perry) by F. Scott Fitzgerald which initially ran serially in The Saturday Evening Post. Some of them were later collected in Taps at Reveille and posthumous short story collections. The title characters were intended by Fitzgerald to meet each other, but this never happened in his literature. RightWayUp Books aims to provide accurate and detailed descriptions. Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. "The Basil and Josephine Stories" by F. SCOTT FITZGERALD with its original dust jacket. 1973 1st edition, 1st printing; Charles Scribner's Sons; New York. From the dust jacket: "This volume brings together for the first time two series of short stories which F. Scott Fitzgerald had intended to combine. The fourteen stories center on two main characters - Basil Duke Lee and Josephine Perry. The Basil series is clearly about Fitzgerald's own life, from eleven to seventeen; and Josephine is Basil's female counterpart. Two main themes run through the Basil and Josephine stories; social class, which Fitzgerald believed to be a psychological rather than an economic condition; and the effort to dominate life by sexual magnetism. Written for the Saturday Evening Post in the late Twenties and early Thirties, the stories are entertainment of a high order, conveying 'what it was like to grow up way back then and there.' Fitzgerald had thought that the two series, read together, would give the effect of a novel, and this volume proves that he was right." Condition: There is some very light foxing along the top edge of the front and back covers; sharp corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The pages are in great condition and nearly appear unread with only some very light foxing to the first few pages of the book (from the half title page to the 1st contents page). Some very light foxing to the edges of the text block. Overall the book is in Very Good+ condition. The dust jacket is un-clipped with the original price intact on the front flap; the spine is tanned just a bit; there is some foxing to the front and back covers; there is a small tear near the top-left corner of the spine - overall the dust jacket is in Very Good condition.
