Corners and ends of spine heavily bumped, rubbed and frayed. Binding tight. Lots of writing on end papers and a few markings on numerous other pages. 192 pages. David wakes up happy and counts his shoes. He has three pairs. His best shoes are for Sundays and his everyday shoes had been worn a long time. So he puts on his old, old shoes with the holes and runs and plays in them. He is asked to deliver little cakes to Mrs. Lee and plays in mud puddles until he is so hungry he eats one of them. In other adventures he gets a new wagon, has three cents to spend, takes his first train ride, sees a fire engine and a fire and finds a stray puppy. The book has an easy vocabulary for beginning and first readers and lots of color illustrations. Size: 6 x 8.
