The poster advertises the Women & Work exhibition at the South London Art Gallery from May 9 - 29, 1975, poster also features an invite to an open meeting with trade unions and Women's Liberation Movement speakers on May 24th, 1975. The work, featured in the Tate Modern's 2023-4 show "Women in Revolt", is a survey and analysis of women's labour at a metal box making factory in Bermondsey, London. The artists, Mary Kelly, Kay Hunt and Margaret Harrison, took on a sociological approach, using interviews, archival research and observation to gather data with over 150 women participating in the project. This large sociological undertaking was aided by members of Hunt's own family who worked at the factory and helped arrange access to the building and workers. The artwork was produced during the implementation of the Equal Pay Act, which was passed in 1970 and came into force in 1975.Condition: light folds where it has been mailed previously, closed one inch tear that has been archivally repaired top edge, minor toning, and handling marks.
