Libro
Soft cover. Condición: Near Fine. Jacket blurb desr. this as ` a lyrical portrait of an Irish childhood'. Cranny, born in Ireland & now living in NYC, uses 212 pages to detail the childhood adventures of his main character Jackie. The best taste of the book I can imagineis to quote it briefly: (p.09) "Our town was a place of large families. The Tully's had sixteen children. `I don't know where they put them all,' my mother used to say." (p.13) " She had a sharp Belfast accent and even when she was mellow her accent made her sound angry. She chewed seaweed because she said there was no better thing for you. The seaweed came in a cellophane bag. ." and (p. 145) " When we passed Sutton's Dairy we hurled stones through the windows of the stables, and we heard the glass breaking and the horses neighing and stomping in fright. We called out George Sutton's name. `You auld bastard. Auld ballix', and then we heard him racing across the yard." Cond: Almost imperceptible chip on front wrapper and two small scars on back one, else As New. Blue wrapper shows a sea view from an (Irish) town.
