British journalist Nick Kettles spins a sweet tale of discovery and compassion in his new 32-page illustrated children s book. The All-Seeing Boy longs to help people out, but doesn t know how. He even suspects there may be some power, some magic, something really big that he could do to help. One day he meets a mysterious hobo with an electric smile and bright blue eyes. The hobo s name is Mr. Jason Carper Esquire. The All-Seeing Boy befriends Jason Carper, who always wears a ruby-colored coat, and asks him, There s something big in life, isn t there, something more than what we see? The hobo shares his wisdom with the All-Seeing Boy, teaching him about compassion. In Kettles book, the hobo describes for the All-Seeing Boy the thing that he can do to help others; he teaches him about blue sky thoughts. While not explicitly described as such, the hobo gives the All-Seeing Boy a meditation practice. The child-friendly Blue Sky of Happiness meditation is a simple, gentle visualization that anyone can do to help others feel better. A percentage of the books proceeds will go towards supporting SOS Children s Villages work with the Tibetan community. -Michael Jolliffe, Mandala Magazine, September, 2011
