There is no question that the most prominent gay rights issue in the United States today is the right to marry. Yet accurate, objective information about same-sex marriage and relationship recognition in the United States is difficult to come by. Peter Nicolas is the Jeffrey & Susan Brotman Professor of Law and Adjunct Professor of Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies at the University of Washington. He specializes in sexual orientation law and constitutional law, and is the author of a textbook and numerous journal articles on gay rights and same-sex marriage. He is the winner of the prestigious Dukeminier Award, awarded annually to the authors of the best sexual orientation and gender identity law journal articles published each year. Mike Strong is based in Seattle, Washington. He is a specialist in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and has worked for local governments and government agencies throughout the Puget Sound area and Washington State.
