Descripción Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. A very handsomely produced book, with the zingy green boards and blue spinal lozenge particularly worthy of admiration. Well-bound, very well laid out, printed on good quality paper, with tactile blue endpapers: 368 pages devoted to Kathleen Raine's choice of her work from across six decades, 16 pages of prelims including a notably good foreword by Kathleen Raine in which she sets out the principles behind her selection and states how she would wish to be judged. "Believing as I do, with my Master, William Blake, that 'One Power alone makes a poet - Imagination, The Divine Vision'; and with Yeats sharing his respect for the Vedic and Upanishadic tradition for which, as he saw them in Tagore, 'poetry and religion are the same thing', it is in the light of this perennial wisdom that I would wish my work to be judged. Better to be a little fish in the great ocean than to be a big fish in some literary rock-pool." The book itself is in very good condition, and feels unread, to judge by the beautiful little de-clicking sound made (just as a test) by some of the pages as they are turned. Unread despite (or possibly because of) its once having been given as a gift, as an inscription on the front free endpaper indicates. There's some minor marks of shelfwear and handling, such as a little bit of rubbing and pressure at the corners and the top and bottom of the spine. Along the bottom of the pages, along their very outer edge when they are viewed as a block, is a mysterious thin straight pencil line which veers off to one side, about halfway across. This doesn't affect the text. All in all, this is a very nice book. The publishers Golgonooza did Raine proud. Nº de ref. del artículo: 1024
